Chrome logo Suppose that you are using computer that shared with your friends or family members. While you are working on computer you get a phone call, you quickly attend that phone call and in the mean time your friend or family member take over your system. Your browser tabs that you are still working on is open to any one who uses the computer. Your friend or family member takes a brief look at your opened tabs. Your privacy is lost. Your friend or family member can read mail on your opened mail account, he can do whatever he want with all those opened tabs, he can also close your browsing session and start a new one.

To protect yourself from these situations you can use a Chrome extension called PanicButton. PanicButton lets you quickly hide Chrome tabs with just a click and restore them later with a password. These tabs are then saved as bookmarks in separate folder. So even if some body closes your browser you can still restore them easily. If you don't want to restore your tabs just delete the Temporary Panic folder in Chrome’s Other Bookmarks folder.

You can also specify which web page to load after the tabs are quickly hidden. A small number gets added to the PanicButton icon which indicate number of tabs hidden. You can quickly restore tabs by clicking on the PanicButton icon on your browser. This should give you a better privacy for your browsing session.
